According to press release for the second year now, the Slavic Spiritual Center has been very active in North Port, FL. During that time we have been visited by many guests, from different countries. They were university professors, pastors, priests, writers, journalists, singers and musicians.
Among them was the translator of Dostoyevsky into English, Middlebury College Professor Thomas R. Beyer, Jr. and Professor Irwin Weil of Northwestern University, translator of Leo Tolstoy into English. There were many guests were from Russia and Ukraine as well, some of the renowned guests were Russian/Ukrainian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko, the chairman of the Ukrainian Bible Society Gregory Komendant and the famous Ukrainian singer Oleg Mayovsky. The international "Bridges of Love" symposium was also held there.
The President of the Center Dr. Mikhail Morgulis and the Center's Pastor Mark Bazalev, believe that the basic concept of the Center is to gather Christian- intellectuals from all over the world for open conversation about the future of our world, and for the preservation of freedom in our world.
A separate issue that the Center concerns itself with: Preserving freedom in the Ukraine. What pertains to Ukraine is that Ukrainian people wish for the U.S. policy makers to understand that Ukraine is a civilized European country with a rich ancient culture, a country where elected government and the president are voted in by the people. America needs to become a friend to Ukraine, because Ukraine can be a reliable and loyal partner for America in Europe.
Doctor Morgulis and Pastor Bazalev meet with American leaders and those of other countries, introducing them to the idea of Spiritual Diplomacy. The movement of Spiritual Diplomacy was started in 1991, by Mikhail Morgulis and was supported by the former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev.
Mikhail Morgulis is the author of 8 books in different languages. At the center there are frequent performances by world renowned pianists, singers and artists. The center can be contacted by email for more information: BridgeUSA@aol.com.
