Zimbabwe Church must give leadership say world, African churches

The Zimbabwe Church has to give leadership to the people of the southern African nation following flawed elections held on 29 March, the World Council of Churches and the All African Conference of Churches have said in a joint report, writes Ecumenical News International. "The process of voter registration, access to the media, freedom to campaign by the opposition were somehow encumbered, to some extent, by the incumbent [President Robert Mugabe] and agents of the ruling party, Zanu-PF. Uniformed forces openly intimidated the voter population in the days preceding the poll," the church bodies said in their report made available on 29 April, a month after the election, and before the full official announcement of the election results.
