Anglican activist hails judge's ruling on Japan's Iraq involvement

A Christian activist who is campaigning against his country's involvement in Iraq has welcomed a statement by a Japanese court that the operations there of his Japan's military personnel violate the country's constitution, reports Ecumenical News International. "It is a historic and epoch-making decision," Yoshinori Ikezumi, a lay Anglican who represents a group of citizens who had taken legal action to suspend the deployment of the Japan Self Defense Forces, as the military is known, and which serve in a non-combatant role. More than 3200 other people have said they support the legal action.
