Former Islamic extremists call for 'deradicalisation' centres

A new group set up in Britain to counter Islamic extremism has called for the setting up of well-resourced "deradicalisation" centres in key cities throughout the United Kingdom, reports Ecumenical News International. The Quilliam Foundation, launched in London on 22 April, recommends that the centres, independent of government, should be staffed by mainstream Muslim scholars in order to counter extremist ideology with the insights of traditional, pluralistic Islam.
