Russia: Minister fined for holding church service

Alexander Kravchenko, minister of the Adygea Christian Center “Revival” faced a 10,000 ruble fine ($300) for violating the order against holding meetings and rallies while conducting the church service, reports the Christian Telegraph in reference to the Russian Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith press center.

According to the Kravchenko, during the Sunday service in Maykop, Russia, police came to the hall and brought the hall “under examination” with the goal of disturbing the service. At the instance of the minister, the policemen waited until the service ended. Then they inspected documents of all participants and inspected the building. The policemen also questioned church members about the church’s work and literature.

The court passed the judgment on August, 28. According to Konstantin Bendas, a senior official with the Russian Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith, they planned to appeal against the court decision.
