Minsk’s Prosecutor’s Office has answered to Bulgarian Christians
The Prosecutor’s Office of Minsk responded to the letter of Bulgarian Christians where they expressed their disagreement with the abeyance of the court examination of the New Life church’s case and the pressure put on pastor Slava Goncharenko, reports New Life church press-center.
The Prosecutor’s Office answered that a statement of the administrative offence was drawn up to Pastor Slava Goncharenko because the church refused to provide an access into the building for the inspection of its fire-technical condition.
To remind, for almost a year the church doesn’t let the state inspectors into the building. The reason for this is that the visits of these and other state representatives are initiated by the Minsk City Executive Committee to organize pressure on the New Life church.
In their letter Bulgarian Christians also expressed a disagreement with the decision of the Supreme Economic Court to suspend the New Life church’s case in which the church was asking to cancel the Executive Committee’s decision on deprivation of its land and building.
It has been almost a year since the Supreme Economic Court suspended the procedure – on April, 22 of 2007. The Prosecutor’s Office of Minsk noted that their organization was not supervising the Supreme Economic Court’s decisions and recommended to appeal against this decision.
Christians of Bulgaria lately wrote more than one letter to the President of Belarus and other state instances asking to stop the pressure on pastor Slava Goncharenko and New Life church. Also in Bulgaria there was established a committee for defense of liberty, democracy and human rights in Belarus. It stands in support of Christians of the country and in particular, of the New Life church. At the time of its short existence (since March, 2008), the committee held a press-conference: «Alarming situation in Belarus with human rights» and organized a picket by the Belarusian Embassy in Bulgaria.
