What projects do you plan to implement in 2012? (Yuris)
We plan to implement some new links and webpages on the Russian portal InVictory.org and to renew old pages as well. I will keep their names secret, because I like to surprise our users. I can only mention that one of them will be connected with studying. We also plan to develop a portal similar to Russian InVictory.org portal in English. Additionally, God gave us the desire to learn Spanish. We want to launch a Spanish portal in the future. Our vision is to make a global Christian internet network in different languages so that Christians from different part of the world will be able to communicate, exchange experiences, make plans and strategize for revival. I think that today, the Body of Christ is in need of consolidation on horizontal level.
Do you experience competition with other Christian internet resources (news agencies, portals or media-projects)? What are your advantages and what do you want to improve? (FatalitY)
We try not to use word ‘competition’ in this context, because Christian internet space is not developed on a high level. We should compete with secular media-projects, because their level is much higher. When we were in process of creating Christian InVictory News Agency, we followed the example of the BBC. But it is one thing to follow, and another to achieve. So we are endeavoring. My favorite quote is “It is better to aim for perfection and fail to hit it, than to aim for imperfection and hit it.” We want to improve all our projects. We don’t have some outstanding advantages. I can mention attendance of our internet projects but it is not so high in comparison with secular recourses.
Today the internet is the most popular source of information. What is your forecast for press? Will it be popular or not? (Sergey Kireyev)
Its future will be bright and optimistic. The Scripture says “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed…” And so the printed press will change into an electronic one. This process will continue as long as the electronic press strives to be suitable, pocket, thin, flexible and with battery that could work for months. Only when these standards are achieved will we be able to say “Goodbye” to the paper. In an essay that I wrote almost ten years ago, I predicted this process. It began when the Internet became not limited by computers. I think that in 5-10 years we will see printed press only in form of gift editions. One of the biggest book retailers “Amazon” stated that in last year sales of electronic books exceeded sales of printed ones. We should not miss printed editions. Let’s only imagine the speed of information renewing. It will be much more urgent and current. And additionally we can maintain millions of trees.
How do you plan your day, month, year, 10 years? How do you distinguish important issues and unimportant? What book are you reading now and why? (Digger)
1. First of all, you should understand God’s global desires for you. Pray until you don’t receive His vision of your life. And then you should start from this vision and plan years, months, weeks and days. I think that planning is very important. God said that before building a tower, we should count the costs. We try to follow this advice, but sometimes God leads you in another direction. In my opinion, God only leads ministers to another level who have aim and strategy instead of chaos.
2. The most important issues happen to be everyday issues with which we have to fight. Without fighting it, you will not go further. You should spend the first part of your day on the most important issues and then do your everyday work. I am a very curious person, so it is hard for me to control my desire to read some educational articles, or to learn some new methods before finishing a current project. There is a proper time for everything. In our century it becomes much harder to manage our personal time.
3. I never read one book; I always read few books at the same time. Now, besides the Bible, I am reading The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, 101 Internet Business You Can Start, Born Again by Charles Colson, Internet Man@ger, and University Planning for Canadians. In spite of two higher educations and bachelor's degree in theology, I don’t want to stop in my spiritual and professional development. In a modern word where everything is going so fast, we can’t allow ourselves to stop.
How was InVictory created? From what project it started? What projects are the most important for you? (Kolibri)
Twelve years ago, my wife and I preached in churches, published “Choose Life” magazine and led the Choose Life mission. When we began to create our website, we found that such name was already existed. So we began to seek something that was connected with the core of our mission – victorious Christian life. And we founded InVictory.org. At the same time, God showed us a new vision which included preaching the Gospel and helping to unite Christ’s Body through new technologies. It happened in the beginning of 2000s. At that time, we didn’t know how to develop portals because there were not many of them in the world.
We have always believed that God gives new technologies for preaching His Word more effectively. Christians often fail to keep pace with life: when radio was invented, we began to publish magazines; when TV was invented, we began to air on radio; when Internet was invented, we began to broadcast on TV. It must be changed because Church should be the light on the mountain. Without modern technologies, this goal is impossible to achieve. So for me, the most important projects are those that helped Christians to unite for fulfilling of the Great Commission. Go and teach! We should search for people. Today, with the help of the internet, it is much easier to find everyone than few years ago.
What was the biggest disappointment in your ministry and how did you go through it? What was the biggest blessing? (YuliaS)
The biggest disappointment is when people don’t understand the price that you have to pay for your ministry. In the beginning, we didn’t have enough money for food or fixed working hours. My wife was working in the office even when she was in her ninth month of pregnancy. You put your soul into work, but then you are said to be calculating businessmen, and people blame you. How do I go through this disappointment? I pray. Once, I read Mother Teresa’s words and they also help me in such situations:
“People are often unreasonable and self-centred. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
The biggest blessing is to see how Christians become more serious because of the Christian information space. Believers from different denominations learn how to communicate with each other, resources for life and ministry become available, churches exchange experiences with each other and become stronger and more powerfully. It is a blessing to see that what you build blesses others. I believe that God is also satisfied by our work.
Do you plan to launch InVictory TV in English? (No)
Yes, we plan to. We have already made some preparations for it.
In your opinion, why don’t Christians fulfill the commandment that states that we should love each other? Is it a crisis or a sign of the last time? (Kappelan)
I think that it is neither crisis nor sign of the last time. Christians don’t think about consequences, or maybe don’t want to think. Everyone thinks within the confines of their interests and I feel that we are also guilty in this. We are the information resource, and if people are not changing it means that we have failed to explain, write or say. We will improve ourselves.
