KENYA: Respect Marriage Vows, Njue Advises Couples
John Cardinal Njue has urged Catholic couples to respect their marriage vows, saying that this will bring about steady families, reports CISA.
The Cardinal added that steady families were central in bringing about a strong Church and society.
The Cardinal was delivering a homily at Nairobi’s Holy Family Minor Basilica on Sunday, December 18, where the Archdiocese of Nairobi was marking its third Holy Family Day. The Archdiocese’s patron is the holy family of Joseph, Mary and child Jesus.
The Cardinal thanked the organizers of the day, observing that this was a way of bringing unity among the faithful, the clergy and religious in the archdiocese as children of one God.
After the Holy Mass, the faithful together with their Cardinal, the clergy and the religious shared a meal together within the Basilica compound.
The peak of the ceremony was the cutting of the cake, where the Cardinal, the clergy and religious joined the faithful in sharing it.
“What a good way to partake together in the Holy Eucharist and in meals too” said the Cardinal.
Earlier the Archdiocese had marked Health, Marriage and Bible marathon days, prior to the Family Day.
During the Marriage Day, December 17, two couples walked down the aisle at the Holy Family Minor Basilica to solemnize their marriage.
In the homily, Rev Fr Simon Peter Kamomoe, the Father-in-Charge of the Basilica advised the couples to be each other’s keeper.
“Do not allow Satan or anything to come between you. Let God remain your guide and you will make it in your marriage life,” he advised.
