A new building technique open ministry doors in Ghana

Recently, a man who met Oasis International through their Christmas parade donated all the plywood needed to finish the ceilings of their new Health Clinic in Pram Pram, reports MNN. Ambrose Brennan with Oasis said, "That does a couple of things for the community. First of all, it provides jobs for the local carpenters and painters. Second of all, of course it helps to complete the center, and third of all, it actually provides some on-the-job training for some of the young men in the area."

Many questions are asked about the new block-maker being used in the construction of the new health center in Pram Pram. It produces interlocking blocks that need no mortar. So far, more than 2,000 blocks have been made.

When people ask questions, a door is opened for Oasis to answer their questions but also to invite them to take part in their classes. "Through the classes, they're able to hear the Gospel, make a commitment to the Lord, or if they already know the Lord, to get further grounded in the truth. We've already had some feedback and some interest from that, so that's been kind of exciting for us," said Ambrose Brennan.

Oasis is getting a second block maker this week. Men have already started constructing a storage building as practice with the new tool. Now, more men can be trained to use the blocks and the block-maker.

Another project which will make use of the block-maker is a wall surrounding the clinic. Currently, people and animals are able to walk across clinic property whenever they'd like. The animals often leave droppings that are not sanitary and not conducive to a healthy environment.

Some people are skeptical about the new block-making technique, but Brennan says, "Once they see how quickly a wall can be built," they'll be more open to the idea.
