Blockbuster Amish story ‘The Shunning’ releases Sept. 13 on DVD
DVD sales of BEVERLY LEWIS’ THE SHUNNING, a Hallmark Channel Original Movie, launch nationwide Sept. 13 from AFFIRM Films and Provident Films, reports Lovell-Fairchild Communications. THE SHUNNING claimed the No. 1 spot for ad-based cable movies in its April 16 premiere, reaching more than 1.6 million households that day.
Based on the book by New York Times best-selling author Beverly Lewis, directed by Michael Landon Jr., and featuring rising star Danielle Panabaker and Golden Globe nominee Sherry Stringfield (ER), THE SHUNNING weaves a generational saga centered on a young Amish woman (Panabaker) poised on the brink of marriage to a respected community leader but struggling with the rules binding her close-knit society. The arrival from New York of a mysterious, successful woman (Stringfield) sets the young woman on a quest to uncover the secret of her past and, perhaps, discover who she is in the process.
