Polish church faces accusations of child sex abuse cover-up

The head of the Roman Catholic Dominican order in Poland has publicly rebuked one of his country's archbishops after he criticised a member of the order for helping expose allegations of sexual abuse by a priest, reports Ecumenical News International. "The Catholic Church in the United States, as you certainly know, has paid a huge price for its silence on cases of sex abuse by priests, and for its leaders' failure to take responsible and clear decisions," said Krzysztof Poplawski, the Dominican leader. "I see no evident impropriety in the conduct of my fellow brother, whose decisions and actions express a concern for these poor people. They carry within them today feelings of harm and neglect by the church's leaders."
