Norwegian monk who was stage director and bishop dies in Paris

John Willem Gran, a Cistercian monk who originally trained as a choreographer and then served with the Norwegian armed forces in exile during the Second World War, later becoming the Roman Catholic bishop of Oslo, has died in Paris, reports Ecumenical News International. Gran, who also served as a member of the Vatican bodies for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue, died on 20 March aged 87.
