Belarus believes that religious legislation doesn’t need changes

On March, 24, the third response to the collective citizens’ appeal was received from the Supreme Economic Court, reports New Life church press-center.

As appears from the letter, the officials have made an express-analysis of the Law «On freedom of conscience and religious organizations». The Supreme Economic Court decided that this Law agrees with the Constitution of Belarus and with the international legal rules as well. In this connection the Court doesn’t see any grounds to turn to the Constitutional Court of the country requesting to determine the accordance of the religious legislation with the Constitution. The letter was signed by E. Smirnov, the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Economic Court.

Thus, it is a third negative answer to the collective appeal of the citizens signed by 50 000 Belarusians.
