New TV show in Turkey will answer key questions about the Bible
Those searching the truths of the Bible often ask for "proof." In Turkey, that's just what they're going to get. Carlos Madrigal, Chairman of the SAT-7 branch in Turkey and pastor of a protestant church in Istanbul, has heard objections against the Gospel raised by Turkish critics over the years. He has answered those objections with a recently-published book and is now taking those answers to broadcast, reports MNN.
Recently, Madrigal published a Turkish book entitled "Apologia: The Gospels and Christianity Examined." In this book, he addresses critical questions about the Gospel's validity. Did Christ die on the cross? What are the historic and academic disagreements concerning the Gospels? What is the relationship between Christ and the Trinity? Were the Gospels edited for coherence? Why were four Gospels included in the canon, while others were left out?
With the release of this book, the idea for "Proof," a new broadcast television show, was born. Why not bring clarity to these questions about the Bible right into the very homes of the people of the Turkey? SAT-7 TURK will be broadcasting the show in which the Host will be the viewer's voice asking questions most people might have about the Bible. Madrigal will then answer the questions with presentations combining graphics, animation and photographs.
The SAT-7 TURK Programming Manager says, "There are many people in Turkey who consciously or even unconsciously are searching for God. And while searching, they usually ask for proof. ‘Proof' is for those people."
Turkey was originally declared a Christian nation. But over the last several hundred years, Islam has slowly become the dominating religion. Today, roughly 98% of the 77 million people living in Turkey associate themselves with the Muslim faith. Christianity makes up a very small percentage of the Turkish people, and the church often finds itself isolated.
SAT-7 started its branch in Turkey back in 2006. Their mission is to teach, train, and encourage the Christian community in Turkey through television programming. They also seek to educate the non-believing Turkish people about Christianity and why their Christian neighbors believe what they believe.
This is why "Proof" will be such an invaluable addition to SAT-7 TURK's programming as it educates both Christian and non-Christian Turks on the basics of the Christian faith. "Proof" will be analyzing these questions from a scientific approach, going into the Biblical background of the time and historical evidences that support Biblical truths.
"As SAT-7 deals with these real issues that people in Turkey are facing, it will give them a better understanding of what Christianity is," says David Middleton, SAT-7 TURK Executive Director.
Ultimately, you cannot prove every little thing about God and the Christian faith. The "faith" element is very critical as well. But in answering some valid questions and providing the very real evidences that are out there, it is the hope of SAT-7 that people will have the confidence to take that step of faith, or at least the desire to search further.
