The coordinator of the Campaign for human rights faces a fine
Sergey Lukanin was charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of a crime expressed in organizing signature collecting in the course of the Campaign «Protecting the rights of freedom of conscience». Yuri Kasperovich, the Prosecutor of the Department supervising the law observation and legitimateness of the legal regulations told Sergey Lukanin about it on March, 21 on the meeting at the Prosecutor’s Office in Minsk, reports New Life church press-center. The official drew up a statement of the case according to which the Coordinator of the Campaign faced a fine of about 327 to 819 USD. The statement of the case was signed by the head of the Department, the counselor of justice, V. Zhdanovich.
According to Yuri Kasperovich, the Campaign conducting itself violated the Law on realization of the legislative initiative of the citizens, because not all of the requirements of this law were met.
In his explanations to the Prosecutor Sergey Lukanin said that «the organizers of the signature collecting did not intend to use the legislative initiative. The believers put their signatures on the Appeal to the authorities asking them to use the right of legislative initiative». Nevertheless, the statement of the case was drawn.
«It is very sad that the response to the citizens’ Appeal to the Constitutional Court came from the Prosecutor’s Office», - noted Sergey Lukanin.
On March, 24 pastor Slava Goncharenko was also called on this matter to the Prosecutor’ Office in Minsk.
