Chiara Lubich praised for vision, commitment to church unity

Chiara Lubich, a Roman Catholic from northern Italy who founded the international Focolare spiritual movement, is being remembered as a champion of Christian and interfaith cooperation, reports Ecumenical News International. "I thank God for the witness of Chiara's existence, spent listening to the needs of man in our modern world, in full fidelity to the Church and to the Pope," Pope Benedict XI said in a message to the Focolare Movement, following Lubich's death on 14 March after a long illness.
