Ministry trains part of peace solution in Angola

Half a year before Angola stages its first elections since ending the civil war, old rivalries are resurfacing. With peace formally beginning in 2002, the Parliamentary elections are a keystone in the country's reconciliation process, reports MNN.

However, both the government and the rebels are trading heated accusations. Evangelist Sammy Tippit was just in Angola laying the groundwork for a grassroots-level change. "Part of what we're doing is trying to rebuild the spirit of the country. Were trying to provide for the masses the message of Christ, the Gospel for the leaders, and do some teaching and training with them."

While there, he also launched the Praying for Your Family initiative. It was received like water to a thirsty tongue. Tippit says, "It was very interesting to see incredible needs within the families of this war-torn nation. I discovered that there is one thing that the Angolans and the Americans have in common. We all have needy families."

Despite disillusionment in the political arena, Angola has a bright future ahead. Approximately 3,000 people responded to Christ during the life-changing meetings held by Sammy Tippit Ministries. Pray that the revival stays on track and that believers are a part of the peace solution.

Tippit says discipleship comes in many forms. Now that they've established their work in Angola, he explains: "One of the things that we're doing is expanding our partnerships and multiplying our relationship there to help them to become all that God wants them to become in that nation."
