Philippines' Christian groups in drive to battle malnutrition

Christian groups in the Philippines are battling hunger and malnutrition in the southeast Asian nation, where a quarter of primary and early secondary school children remain underweight, reports Ecumenical News International.

"Hunger and malnutrition are concerns that all Christians, regardless of doctrinal differences, must confront with a passionate sense of mission," said Bishop Donald Soriano, who heads the Bethesda Ministries International, a Filipino Christian group.

Soriano was outlining to ENInews his group's collaboration with other organizations and Roman Catholic parishes to establish feeding programmes in public schools with malnourished children.
