New mission partner, Christian World Outreach, lives the Gospel

Mission Network News is excited to welcome a new group into mission partnership: Christian World Outreach.

Christian World Outreach has been ministering around the globe for over 30 years. They began their work first in Haiti but now have expanded to three African countries: Zambia, Zimbabwe and Burkina Faso.

Christian World Outreach ministers in these four countries in a variety of ways, but always with one common goal: "We want to participate with the body of Christ in responsible evangelism to bring dignity and self-worth through leadership training and development, and to meet peoples' needs through humanitarian aid," says ministry president Dean Yoder.

In Zambia, Christian World Outreach has been asked by the government to educate the military and police on AIDS prevention. In Zambia and Zimbabwe both, the ministry helps AIDS orphans by means of orphanages and education assistance. A child sponsorship program is provided for these struggling children in Zimbabwe. In Burkina Faso, the ministry reaches out by means of vocational training, agricultural programs and medical aid.

Haiti has been a large focus of Christian World Outreach throughout their entire existence, but especially in the past several months. Since the devastating January 12 earthquake hit, Christian World Outreach has distributed over 50,000 tons of food, medicine, clothes, cots and other necessities to suffering Haitians.

The ministry also has nine churches in Haiti, which have had a significant impact on the people there, especially in recent months. "Since the earthquake, we have seen a tremendous growth in people coming to church. And almost every Sunday in our churches, people are accepting the Lord," says Yoder.

And that is the hope. Christian World Outreach works "to follow Jesus' example to minister to the whole person, physically, emotionally, spiritually and educationally, and to enable every person, young and old, to have an opportunity to become a follower of Jesus Christ and be active in a local church."
