Conference on Christian ethics lessons in Ukrainian schools
According to a report from the Information Department of the UGCC, on March 5 2008 in Lviv a conference “Christian ethics in Ukrainian schools,” devoted to the question of the education of students in the spirit of Christian ethics and morals, was held, reports RISU. Among the questions which were discussed are, in particular, the question of the collaboration of the Church with the school and methods of working with youth. During the conference the best teachers of the region, priests and nuns who teach students Christian ethics, were presented with awards and valuable gifts.
Participating in the discussion were: Nadiya Oksenchuk, head of the Board of Education of the Lviv City Council: Pavlo Khobzey, head of the Main Board of Education and Research of the Lviv Regional Administration; Fr. Borys Gudziak, rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University; Roman Shyian, director of Lviv Regional Institute of Post-diploma Pedagogical Education; Bohdana Bilyak, assistant head of the Main Board of Education and Research of the Lviv Regional Administration; and methods-specialists who are responsible for teaching Christian ethics, leading teachers of Christian ethics, representatives of clergy of various denominations, and others. The organizers of the conference are the boards of education of the city and the region.
