Roman Catholic bishops from southeastern Europe have decided to draft a handbook for priests and couples on guidelines for "mixed marriages" that take place between members of their faith and those belonging to other churches or religious groups, reports Ecumenical News International. "They are a special opportunity for ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue, but also a problem area which needs to be tackled seriously," the bishops said in a statement after a 28 February-2 March meeting in Sofia. They noted a growing trend for mixed marriages in South Eastern Europe.
