Ministry opens 10th hospital in Ethiopia in as many years

CURE International is opening its 10th hospital in as many years in Ethiopia, reports MNN.

The CURE Ethiopia Children's Hospital (CECH) is a pediatric orthopedic teaching hospital that will serve physically disabled people in Addis Ababa.

There's a critical need for an orthopedic and trauma care residency program in Ethiopia, soon to be filled by the CECH. The hospital will be a 60-bed complex that will provide modern medical and surgical care to physically disabled children in Ethiopia.

According to CURE's press release, the hospital will focus primarily on orthopedic-related disabilities such as clubfoot, complications of trauma and infectious diseases, spine deformities, burns and other physical disabilities. The hospital will also provide care for other complex conditions such as spina bifida, cleft lip and palate, and hydrocephalus.

The ministry also plans to open three additional hospitals in Egypt, Niger, and Bethlehem by the end of 2009. CURE places equal emphasis on the physical healing of their disabled patients as well as the spiritual healing.

Since its inception in 1986, CURE has treated more than 650,000 patients and performed 45,000 surgeries worldwide. Today, CURE sees 130,000 patients and performs 10,000 surgeries annually.

CURE staff demonstrates compassion and God's love throughout the surgery and recovery process.
