Pastors attacked and hospitalized in Bangalore, India

Two pastors belonging to an Assemblies of God Church were attacked and beaten up by a group of Hindu radicals on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in Bangalore, which is known as the “Silicon Valley of India” because of it’s large number of IT companies, reports James Varghese, special correspondent in India for ASSIST News Service.

According to the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), Pastor Shiju Kuriakose (35) and Pastor Jayan (30) from the Nitya Vachanam Bethel Assemblies of God Church, had gone for a time of prayer at a believer’s house on that day. On reaching the believer’s house, they found the door locked and so the pastors decided to visit another believer’s house and pray for that family.

The news source said that, after the prayer at that believer’s house, pastors left the place and then walked near to a tea stall to have a cup of tea. By then a group of Hindu radicals came by on two motor cycles and mercilessly attacked the pastors with iron rods.

It was known from the news source that, both the pastors sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital in Bangalore.
